Created by the same people who brought us Resident Evil & Devil May Cry, Bayonetta is a beat em-up for the PS3 & Xbox 360 with buckets of style.

In the game you fight as Bayonetta – a witch who has powers to make mere mortals shudder! She also has an impressive range of weapons to call upon including stiletto-mounted handguns, a magic whip and a pair of good old handguns.

Hit your opponent with enough of the right kind of moves and you get the chance to use special torture combos which do lots of damage! It’s not all about attack though, sometimes you need to dodge an enemy so you can enter “witch time” – think the Matrix.

One for the over 18s only, this space-survival-horror resumes the events 3 years on from the original game. The only survivor of an alien infestation, engineer Isaac Clarke faces a living nightmare as he battles against Necromorphs – reanimated corpses of the dead.

Thankfully Isaac seems better equiped weapon wise in this sequel, and can move much faster. While much of the game will see you face seemingly relentless battles, there’s also times where you need to slow down and work out some pretty clever puzzles. There is a multiplayer mode but you will probably find the single player mode more rewarding.
