Those of you youngsters who don't remember the Commodore 64 vs ZX Spectrum 'slag offs' from 20 years ago are missing this whole 'deja vu' experience!
Ultimately, those who are 'loyal' to one brand will think of some perfectly correct reason to kick the other in the teeth... In the mid '80s it was the c64s 'proper keyboard' and excellent sound that won many over from the Speccie, even though the cheaper ZX had the earlier launch and sales lead and much more software available. I see the same scenario again here - Sony's technically better machine should eventually dominate the market - backward compatibility and Blu-Ray will seal it for the newbie..
I am biased though.... Personally, I was a tart for Commodore via Vic 20, C64 and Amiga.. and I'm now carrying the can for Sony via PS1 and PS2-- the emotional antici........... pation I have had for the PS3 for 3 years now makes it a no brainer purchase!
So put away the barbed words boys and girls - it's all been said before, and with much more vitriol... Just enjoy your machines, and the knowledge that YOURS is the best - 360, Wii or PS3 !!! ;->

I currently own the HDD Model of the Xbox 360 and everybody seems to be a tad cynical over the price of the PS3,£425 is a lot of money I agree.But the PS3 is also one hell of a lot of console/State of the art Blu Ray DVD Player/Multimedia Machine..... My point is that although its £425 price tag seems a little excessive,add up the total of one Xbox 360 HDD Model(which doesn't even have a proper HDMI Connection like the PS3,only a composite connection) along with a Wireless/WIFI Adapter and the recently released HD DVD Drive you are looking at the best part of £460. Maybe this is a smart 'pay as you go along' marketing approach from microsoft,but all the previously mentioned above is included in the 60GB (£425 model) PS3 already. And that to me is the smart way forward!.

I've been reading your rewiews and have alot of things to say.

1) It takes about 6 months for games to get as good as they get on a new console.

2) No one realises but Sony are losing money for each PS3 they sell because of the Blu Ray... Because a Blu Ray player costs nearly 1 grand on its own. The real money is made in the games...

I recomend the PS3 over anything... The Wii is not a next gen console and is a piece of rubbish... The Graphics are crap, and the best game so far is probably a mario... The 360 is a big NONO for me as you have to pay to play online... Where a the PS3 will be free and therefore alot more people will use it's service.

Now we come to the features of the PS. The graphics are great. It's as sleak as anything and you can even plug a keyboard and mouse into it. You can store music on it, display pictures from your phone and even camera memory stick, you can even download game demos and use it for browsing the internet.

This is a 5 star buy and Sony have made me proud!

I only got a short chance to play on the ps3 and in my opinion, it is practicaly like playing a ps2 game. the extra media features like music and video? There are other much better value devices that can do that. blue ray is ok, but it is too early to bring in. The DVD still has another 9 years of life. That Big fat cost. Well, Sony needs the price to be high so that they can pay off research. It is also because they produced a lot of systems but about a quarter or less were faulty. It amazing graphics Power is impressive, but the developers have not yet mastered how to get the most out of it. This is why Xbox360 look better. In a years time The price will have gone down, and games will look better. The Xbox 360 is curruntly going strong. After playing on the Wii, I found it hard to get used to, but one you do it is easier than a standard controller. What a lot of people don't realise is that the graphics are better than PS2 and Xbox 1, but you could still have fun playing on a PS2 game, and the graphics looked very good. The PS3, as I said will only be worth buying in a years time.

If you want a simple breakdown here it is :

PS3 - Better Graphics and way ahead of the other two. Downside is the price. At this price I don't feel SONY have done themselves a justice. Early reports from developers are saying SONY development and licensing are prohibitively high and many will defer coding until uptake is firmly established. During the demo session I attended I heard someone mutter 'Same as Mini Disk' and a discussion broke out about whether this will flop due to price and greed and SONY once again trying to corner a market but making it so inaccessible it fails.

XBOX360 - Good value for money compared to the other two. Widely supported but online costs and the leaning towards many of the games for online play may mean they leave a hole in the market for the solo player. However there's stacks of software and with games like GEARS of WAR this is so entrenched that SONY will not shift this from the market place. Lets not forget Microsoft have openly ackowledged that XBOX360 was launched with a known loss of $8Billion Yes those are the right figures. This was to offset dev costs and allow Microsoft the market penetration it requires. That's the subsidy to gain market. SONY can't get anywhere near this and so SONY will always appear extremely expensive in comparison.

Wii : SAD SAD SAD. Bought my son one at xmas and bought several games from amazon and other places and to be honest it's cutesy look and it's games like Rabbid Rabidds is all it has going for it. Numerous people are having issues with the controls on first person shooters and similar. When my sons friends come around they all play boxing and tennis and zelda and rabbids but the novelty wears thin and they go back to the XBOX real fast.

Me ? I love my PC and wouldn't spend any time with any of them but I did the reviewer from an outsiders perspective as everyone else seems to be waving a flag.
