It doesn't matter if you are not a Mario or Mariokart fan. This game is one that will give very long lasting enjoyment hours on end. Although previous Mariokarts have been excellent, and I thought it would have been impossible to match the N64 Mariokart. It is even better.
The game has 32 tracks (16 new ones and 16 ones that have been on previous mariokart games) but with the new features such as a selection of karts for each player. More characters to choose from and missions. The game has so much more to offer than pretty much any other racing games of any sort around!

First of all...is "King of Games" reviewing the same game as us???? As long as the other player on WiFi has the game, any track can be played and there is no Mission 7. There are 6 levels of missions, the first few of which are quite easy but they get progressively harder, and another thing, the last boss is not even relatively hard! The racing is good, you get 4 extra characters, Dry Bones, Daisy,Waluigi and R.O.B. with bonus karts. You also unlock Mirror class which is 150cc but different, e.g left turns are right turns. and after you ve completed all that you get all 36 karts for each character.
I have to say though, that the highlight for me is the battles. You get balloon battles and shine runners. the balloon battle is where you blow into the mic to blow up balloons and try to keep you r balloons, you get 5 but can only have 3 up at the same time. you can steal other players balloons by running into them with mushrooms or just pop their balloons, watch out for your own balloons though!!! Shine runners is whe you get a break from huffing and puffing into the mic and try to get as many shines as possible(shines are objects that look like suns with smiles)by hitting other players with items.
Overall, this is a fab game and is another must buy for ds's

this is the best game for the nintendo ds by far as its accelerates away from every game currently on it! the graphics are superb, the character selection is good with many unlockabe caharacters and cars to choose from and the wifi gaming is superb as ur able 2 play with anyone over the world! ds download play is also a bonus meaning that u can play with anyone to download it onto theirs, but overall mario kart ds is definately one of the best ds games on the planet

I got this game with my ds, and to be honest, I never would have bought it anyway, but having only heard good things about it I thought it would be at least a little better than this. I should mention that I've only played it on wifi in very short bursts, and I can see why this would improve it greatly perhaps. My review is based totally on single player.

This game has all the classy and brilliant game design that runs through all Nintendo's games. The tracks are innovative and incredibly well-designed, the characters are all very different, but balance out superbly, and the extras like battles and missions are pretty different in a fun way.

Despite all this, to think of this as a genuine racing game would be cruel; the slow karts, instant gratification gameplay, and odd racing mechanics make it far too quirky to be taken so seriously.

I played this game a lot before I got my first game for the ds, and the thing that I don't like about it is the lack of long term depth. You race, which is fun for 3 mins, then you can race again, which is fun for another 3 minutes, and so on and so on, until your eyes begin to bleed and your soul yearns for something to change. There's not even an attempt at entertaining long term gamers, like there is in the mario golf and tennis games with their rpg modes.

This game is probably fantastic if you have wifi, or if you're a kid, or if you don't like to really get involved or attached to a game, and just want 3 minute fun. If you want something to play in single player, or something that has a lot to offer, don't bother.

What can I say, this game is licenced to thrill! It's possibly the best mario kart game in the series. And by the way, the Wi-Fi Rocks like hell!
