The Halo games were always the best reason to by an Xbox and now the final part in the initial trilogy of ground breaking first person shooters is set to raise the bar for all Xbox 360 games. Well known for their secrecy, Bungie have officially revealed little about Halo 3, but what is known is that the new game features an Earth completely overtaken and controlled by the Covenant, as they seek a secret hidden Forerunner weapon.

Although little is known about the single player mode, more has been seen of the multiplayer, with various beta testing schemes going on in both secret and in public. A number of new weapons and vehicles have already been revealed including a new assault rifle, the new Spartan laser anti-vehicle weapon and a new hand held shield device for Master Chief that can create a far more effective protective shield around you. New vehicles include the ATV-like Mongoose, a new variant of the Warthog and the new, more powerful, Brute Ghost.

Of course the most important new feature that every new fan is interested in is the graphics, and they are looking predictably fantastic. With lots of technobabble, new features like high dynamic range lightning and pre-computed radiance transfer means the game will not only play great but looks amazing too.

Halo 1 - 2 and now 3 well the first Halo sets the scene, the second 1 fills in the gaps, the third finishes the battle on an alien infested earth.

The first is by far the best and the longest of the 2 games out but bothe have amazing battle's i was so disapointed to have compleated them bothe within a week.

the third will be amazing i can feel it and now we have alies as the covanant is starting to crumble just a game you deside

Halo 3 is gonna be Teh best game ever. All of the ps3 games are cowering against a corner because they know that no game can beat it. Resistance was meant to be "The Halo killer" but that game had crap graphics and crap gameplay. So if you want a Beast game buy Halo 3, but i'm buying the Legendary edition because its AWESOME!!!

I've played through the 3 beta levels in many different game types, and i've got to say the graphics and gameplay are much better than Halo 2 and are pretty much excellent, of course, there is the slight glitch, but that's what the beta is for. The weapons come in all shapes and sizes and, while bungie will obviously still be playing around with settings, they really are great fun at the moment, with even a wide range offered even through only the 3 beta levels. The vehicles all seem to be working well, and having driven the warthog, mongoose, ghost, banshee and wraith, i would have to say that the mongoose is definitely the best vehicle, even over the armour of the wraith, although the only gun on the vehicle is the one which your rear seat passenger is carrying. Custom games come with a wide range of settings, even more than ever offered before, and will surely be welcomed by the large range of online players out there. the only problem at all which i have experienced so far is that when playing on LIVE, you need to press the D-pad in order to talk, which is definitely a problem during intense firefights.

Overall, Halo 3 is definitely going to be the game of the year to buy, and i honestly recommend you preorder now, because you'll be sorry about waiting for weeks when it's released

Well as a regular Beta I am enjoying it hugely. The graphics and some animations are of course unfinished but we won't talk about that because its a beta, but on the plus side!

- The return of the assult rifle as the starting weapon in multiplayer, creates a far more diverse and interesting game as people arn't duel wielding and are using there grenades and melee attacks. This combined with the gadgets (the bubble shield and energy drainer are genius) have created a far more tatical but equally fast paced game.
- The party system and intereface are of course brilliant, no other game makes it so effortless to quickly get into games. It throws into contrast other Live games where you spend as much time in the lobby
-The replay system and detailed online stats (watch kill/death ratio become the new currency of online gaming cool ((mine 1.32))) make the game more like a sport, or carrer choice than a simple game. People are already learning advanced and interesting tatics for the new weapons and gadgets.
-2/3 maps we have played a brilliant offering great ambush, tatical opportunities for infantry
-It's Halo, the world is so recognisable gamers will free right at home

Now on things that need improvement

-The Graphics so far seem unfinished and a little underwhelming, I'm sure this will be fixed before the release date though! (lovely bloom effects mind)
-Some weapons feel a little nerfed and obsolete (smg, plasma pistol/rifle)
- The rocket launcher has gone slow again!
- Vehicles seem currently to be under utilised, this might be the maps, as of yet no sign of banshees or other human equivilent
-Carbine is to good, especially when compared to the battle rifle that is a truth be told a little useless.

I hope this is all useful, the good thing the few slight flaws are vastly outweighed by the good stuff and its mostly weapon ballancing something easily remedied. The very reason there is a beta is sort out stuff like that. You can be sure by final release it will be close to flawless!

I have downloaded the beta and this is a very good game. I used to own a PS2 and switched to a 360 so I haven't played Halo 1 or 2. I can say that the weapons and vehicles are awesome and this has the potential to be a very good game.

But its only a game and some people are talking about it as if their life depends on playing this game. The hype is way too much for a game. I say just calm down. Its only a game.
